Arthroscopic Surgery of the Knee & Shoulder

Arthroscopy of the knee and shoulder are two of the most common orthopaedic procedures. Drs. Norris, Blessinger, and Woebkenberg perform nearly 300 of these outpatient procedures each year.

The surgery involves inserting a small camera into the joint thru tiny incisions and then repairing or removing damaged tissue with specialized instruments. Typical problems that can be treated with arthroscopy include torn cartilage (meniscus) or ligaments in the knee, and impingement or bone spurs in the shoulder.

Total Joint Replacement of the Hip, Knee, and Shoulder

Total Joint Replacement (or “Arthroplasty”) is done when the surfaces of the joint have become too worn to function properly. The ends of the bones are replaced with stainless steel components to provide a durable surface that can last up to 15-20 years. For some patients undergoing total knee replacement, this may be done as an outpatient procedure at Saint Charles Surgical Pavilion.
In most cases, these procedures are performed as an inpatient at Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center in Jasper, IN.

Spine Surgery

Partial Knee Replacement

In some cases the knee will wear out on only the inner side or outer side. When this occurs a partial or “unicompartmental” knee replacement may be the best treatment choice. The procedure is less involved than a total knee replacement and can often be done as an outpatient procedure. Our physicians have performed over 400 partial knee replacements since completing a specialized training course in 2002.
